Some (hopefully) inspirational photos today. Starting with Vauxhall in 1933. How many ways of getting around are there in the picture? I reckon 9 – foot, bicycle, motorcycle (and sidecar) horse and cart, car, lorry, bus, tram and train. Now it’s just SUV.

Atmospheric photos – Liverpool Street in 1950, and a London street in 1939.
An E3 and a Maunsell diesel shunter at a busy Norwood Junction in 1939 (photo Sidney Perrier.)

More private owner wagons at Andover in 1914.

The Woodhead line (photo Roger Carvell.)

West Croydon.

Glasgow. An interesting model? (Sail was about the only means of transport missing from the picture of Vauxhall above!)

When motorways were empty – the M1 and M2.
Lots of buses in Wisbech – and very little Health & Safety for those ladders!

To finish, crossing the Atlantic, a typical ESNG club night in New York City.
