Potpourri #1128 – Modelling challenge of the day?

I couldn’t resist copying this from Facebook!

Back in 1950, Wuppertal’s famous hanging train — the Schwebebahn — became the scene of a truly unforgettable event.

In July of that year, a local circus decided to pull a publicity stunt by putting a young elephant named Tuffi (“Tuffy”) onto the Schwebebahn to attract attention. But things didn’t go as planned.

Once inside the suspended train car, Tuffi became frightened. In a panic, she smashed through the side of the carriage and fell about 10 meters (around 33 feet) into the Wupper River below!

Miraculously, Tuffi survived the fall with just a few minor injuries. A few passengers were also slightly hurt during the chaos, but thankfully there were no serious casualties.

The stunt didn’t end well for the organizers — the circus director and those responsible faced legal consequences for the dangerous stunt.

Today, Tuffi’s incredible leap is part of Wuppertal’s local folklore. You’ll find murals, souvenirs, and even children’s books celebrating the brave little elephant and her unforgettable “flight” through the air.

All rather exciting!  And in case you wondered….
