Sorry, pasties, not strudel #2

We start today at Okehampton.  Looking towards Meldon Quarry, then back in the Exeter direction….

And so to one of my favourite lines, the Lynton & Barnstable Railway.  The original coach livery was most attractive…

I built a plasticard model of Woody Bay station in my teens…

Lynton and Lynmouth are pretty spots, though Lynmouth was devastated by the great flood of 1952.  A thunderstorm got stuck in the upstream river valley, much as happened in Boscastle more recently in 2004, and the rain just kept falling, and the flood just kept coming.

Lynmouth still has its funicular railway.

Hi there, thankyou for sharing these great pictures. I want to go to all these three places as I follow them on various group sites. must be nice to go to Okehapton again by train. The Lynton &Barnstaple Railway is such a title gem worth bringing back.. and To have the funicular railway still here where the end of the railway line was is just awesome. thanks again, Chris
