Lowestoft or bussed – 3

And so to the London trolleybuses. Wonderful machines, and perhaps most surprisingly, there were only minor detail changes (except a couple of experimental designs) through the whole fleet.  I hadn’t realised that replacing trams with trolleybuses was completed geographically.  Trolleybuses took over north of the Thames, whilst trams battled on south of the river.  Lowestoft seemed to have four examples running when Allan was there.  So today we present trolleybuses….

Parked….

Driving.  260 on route 662.

Driving.  1521 on route 685.

Driving.  796 on route 696.

And just to remind us all how complicated the overhead could be…

Tomorrows final Lowestoft post has some detail shots of the trolleys, plus a few of the other old vehicles that were on display.
